There are a lot of people who
just loves to shop but they are unable to since they are pretty much occupied
with their time. They don’t have the time to visit traditional malls. At times,
they even have free time only during hours were malls are closed already. Internet
has made shopping possible for these kinds of people. Now they don’t need to
worry what time of the day they can be free since they can pretty much do it
anytime they want at their own pace. Online shopping is truly a great
alternative for us in address our shopping needs. Time won't matter anymore for
people who want to shop at their discretion. These consumers are the ones who
have unusual lifestyle since they prefer to do everything at night. These are
the consumers who have unusual schedule and is asleep in day time. This kind of
setup doesn't allow them to go to traditional mall during mall hours. These are
the people who can't visit malls when they want. These customers can only visit
traditional mall when they are off from their work or business.
Clearly, this makes them hard for
them since they are not living on a normal time shift. It's great that they
have online shopping option now at their disposal. Online is now being migrated
by offline businesses. This only started to roll since last year in the
Philippines. Once Lazada arrived in the country, other online malls followed
them. They are one of the first online stores to grace the local online market.
They also exist in key South East Asia countries. Ecommerce started to rise ever
since they arrived in the country compared to the previous years. They made an
impact on Ecommerce that helped it grow exponentially. Since there is no
competition in the local online scene, it made sense for their move to launch
it in the country. The real challenge for them is how they will convince the
local online users to buy from their website. Online payment wasn't highly
regarded at that time that's why it was hard for them to lure people. Hackers
may target us once we use our credit card for transactions. People with credit
cards in the Philippines are actually hard to come by.
These have slowed down the growth
of Ecommerce in the Philippines. This doesn't translate for local online users
not being familiar with online payment. We don't really consider reward
initially; instead we jump to risk immediately. We just don't trust online
stores in general the first time we see them. It's inevitable that we think of
them as scammers online. It's pretty clear that these two alone makes Ecommerce
a tough market to crack. Good thing that Lazada came up with a solution to
solve both of these issues. They first introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. in
online to solve these issues. It's actually not a requirement for them to pay
Lazada right away as they are only required once their delivery arrives at
their address.
