Many of us are Internet savvy
users nowadays. You even see kids in this generation that are way advance in
the technology usage compared to when we were at that same age. I believe since
technology and Internet is common already. Nowadays, the young generations
tends to quickly adapt to it growing up. It is true that Internet is part of
our lifestyle. That is why many of our usual offline activities like shopping
can be accessed in online as well. A lot of us think of online shopping as a
helpful alternative in traditional shopping. Since we control the time, we can
do it whenever we want. These consumers are the ones who have unusual lifestyle
since they prefer to do everything at night. Normally, these are the people who
work at night. They are only free when mall hours are actually closed.
Traditional malls are just not available for them. It's only during holidays or
weekends when they can visit these traditional malls.
Clearly, this makes them hard for
them since they are not living on a normal time shift. It's now easier for them
now that online shopping is available for addressing their shopping needs.
Offline businesses are now stretching their reach in online. This only happened
last year in the Philippines. When Lazada arrived in the Philippines, other
online malls were established as well. They are one of the first online stores
to grace the local online market. They can also be seen in other South East
Asia countries. Ecommerce quickly rise once Lazada arrived into the local
online scene. It can't be helped to learn that they made a huge impact on the
local online scene. Actually, the competition is very low in the country so it
only made sense for them to launch it here. The real challenge for them is how
they will convince the local online users to buy from their website.
One reason it was hard for them
is that local online users are not optimistic about online payment. This is
actually hard for online users as their credit card details might get exposed.
What makes it more alarming for them is that there are only a few credit
cardholders in the country. This hampered the growth of Ecommerce in the
country. This doesn't translate for local online users not being familiar with
online payment. We tend to consider the risk only when dealing with online
stores. It's only because we don't give online malls a chance. We just tag them
as a scam right away. The issues are the reasons why Ecommerce is a challenging
business in the Philippines. Good thing that Lazada came up with a solution to
solve both of these issues. They introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D., which
enables customers to pay in cash instead. Customers can pay only after their
orders have arrived and are handed over to them with this payment method.
