Compared to before, shopping
requires us to go to traditional malls to buy their. What we fail to realize is
that we used up most of our energy, time and money by just traveling into their
location. Although conventional shopping is already part of our lifestyle and
most of us don’t mind since we are so accustomed to it, it can’t be helped to
notice that there are some who are looking for other ways to shop. It was
always a good thing if Filipinos have alternative on traditional shopping such
as online shopping. Time won't matter anymore for people who want to shop at
their discretion. Their schedules are just very unusual compared to most
people. These are the consumers who don't have time in the morning since they
work at night. Their lifestyle is unusual since they are only free when malls
are actually closed.
They are unable to visit malls
when they please unlike most people. These customers can only visit traditional
mall when they are off from their work or business. It is way complicated for
them compared to people who work on a normal time shift. Now that they have
online shopping as an option, they can shop whenever they want. Most of the
businessmen are now shifting to online business. Actually, this only started
last year in the Philippines. Once Lazada arrived in the country, other online
malls followed them. They are one of the first online shopping mall in the
Philippines. They are made available in other South East Asia countries.
The Ecommerce industry really
grew when they arrived in the country compared to the days when Lazada wasn't
around yet at that time. Actually, their impact on Ecommerce can't be
disregarded. Since there is no competition in the local online scene, it made
sense for their move to launch it in the country. They are actually facing a
problem on how they will convince the local online users to try their store.
Online payment was just not regarded dearly by local online users. It is why it
was harder for online malls to turn visitors to customers. They are afraid that
they may be victimizing of online identity theft.
What makes it challenging is that
majority of the population are not credit card owners. These have slowed down
the growth of Ecommerce in the Philippines. It doesn't mean local online users
are not familiar with online payment. It's quite hard for customers to not
focus on risk before looking on the reward that lies ahead. It's just plain and
simple; we don't trust online malls right away. Online malls for us are all
scams, which is sad. It's pretty clear that these two alone makes Ecommerce a
tough market to crack. These Ecommerce woes were solved by Lazad when they
arrived in the country. Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. was introduced to Lazada'
local online customers as their alternative payment method. Their customers
will no longer be bound to pay right away as they can pay later after they
received their actual orders in real time.
