Never did I imagine that online
usage would take it this far growing up. As far as I know then, it is only as
good a source for great information. It's actually overwhelming to see that
online shopping is now starting to become popular in the Philippines. Believe
it or not, this wasn't the case a few years ago. People were hesitant in online
shopping. One factor is that both online and offline scams have a high rate
here in the country. This is why online transactions is not highly trusted by
the local online users in the country. This made local online classified
websites as the top websites that local online user visit when they want to buy
something.
They actually paved way for the
arrival local online malls in the country. An online marketplace was eventually
created because of their online presence. Buy and sell was harder online
classified wasn't available yet and relied only thru offline. It has become a
venue for online users to check the price of the item they want before visiting
malls. It allowed local online users to do more and stay longer connected to
the Internet. A lot of people go to their websites to buy and sell on their
own. The difference between them and Ecommerce is that it is third party resellers
who gain from the traffic. It's most likely that transactions are being done
offline by third party reseller. It's the same concept with group buying
websites. Customers were prepared for online payment by these websites for the
coming of Ecommerce websites in the Philippines. Upon the arrival of the
Ecommerce websites, local online users were already prepared for online
dealing.
One reason why online shopping
was ever considered is because they can gain more than what they are risk. The
amazing deals offered to customers from group buy websites were very rare. The
offered deals of group buy websites were so great that it will be hard for
customers to not try them out. Just a year ago, Lazada Philippines was launched
in the country. It is one of the online ventures that were launched in South
East Asia. It is backed by the Samwer brothers who own Rocket Internet. They
made significant impact in the local Ecommerce industry with their offering of
unconventional offline payment methods. Their payment methods featured
different payments that allow online customers which suit them best. Customers
are only allowed to pay via credit card or PayPal by most online malls. This
actually hurts the potential of customer pushing through with their orders
since most of them can't pay thru these conventional online payments. They were
one of the first online malls to offer Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. as a
alternative form of payment method. This payment method helps them to tap the
untapped marketing in the country. Actually, the majority of the local market
is this one in the Philippines. Now that the entire market is open in online,
it definitely helped Ecommerce thrive in the country.
