Online shopping is beginning to
emerge itself as a rising trend in the country now that it has slowly become
popular to the local online users. Believe it or not, this wasn't the case a
few years ago, were almost all local online users were still hesitant in online
shopping. The rate in the Philippines both offline and online is off the roof
in the country. In the end, this made online transaction the least option to
many local online users. Top websites in the country were local online
classified ads in the buy and sell industry. Local classified websites helped
prepare the arrival of local online malls. They eventually created a
marketplace community in the local online scene. The local audience didn't know
where to go if they went to buy something when local online classifieds still
didn’t exist in the country.
It has become a venue for online
users to check the price of the item they want before visiting malls. It
allowed local online users to do more and stay longer connected to the
Internet. More online users go to these types of websites in search for buy and
sell prospects. Local online users deal with third party resellers, unlike in
Ecommerce. Buyers and sellers from local online classifieds usually deal with
each other online but finishes or finalizes their transaction via offline. This
setup is one of the keys in online that made an impact to the local online
users in the country. It definitely paved way for the Ecommerce industry to
penetrate the local online community in the country.
In the Philippines, local online
users were already familiar by the local Ecommerce websites were launched. The fact
that local online users have more to gain in online shopping pushed them in
trying online shopping. Customers who experience shopping on group buy websites
found deals that can only be found on group buy deals. The offered deals of
group buy websites were so great that it will be hard for customers to not try
them out. Just a year ago, Lazada Philippines was launched in the country. They
are an online mall venture available in South East Asia. They are supported by
Rocket Internet owned by the Samwer brothers. With their payment methods,
Lazada helped the local Ecommerce in the country.
With so many payment methods
available, this allowed online customers to be in control. Conventionally, only
via credit card or Paypal payment is allowed by traditional online malls. This
hampers the customers in availing the items they want since they are limited in
paying online the conventional way. They actually offered Cash on Delivery or
C.O.D. as an alternative payment to their customers. This allowed them to tap the
untapped markets, which are the non-credit cardholders or Paypal account users.
Actually, the majority of the local market is this one in the Philippines. Now
that the entire market is open in online, it definitely helped Ecommerce thrive
in the country.
