I’m sure most of you at least
spend an hour of your time online daily. Connecting online is pretty common
nowadays. It doesn’t hurt that the arrival of smartphones paved way further in
making online users easily connected online whenever and wherever they are. A
lot of us actually start our day checking news feeds on our mobile and emails
as well. This just shows that we are living in an Internet savvy generation. The
arrival of online malls in the country also made our will to stay connected
online much longer since it is more convenient for us. Admittedly, it's really
great that we now have online shopping as an alternative way for shopping. The
local consumers get an upper hand since time of availability won't matter
anyone. These are the people who work during unusual hours. Probably they are
the one set for night shifts in their work. They can visit the mall only during
mall hours that it is ironically closed.
They really have a hard time
visiting traditional malls. Traditional malls are only available during
weekends or holidays. It's more complicated for these consumers unlike if they
work on a normal time shift. It's better now for them since they have online shopping
as an option. Currently, we are no going online where you see a lot of offline
businesses migrating to it. It only started to rise last year in the
Philippines. By the time Lazada had arrived in the country, their competitors
showed up from nowhere. They are actually one of the first online malls
established in the country. They are actually a venture that is available in
other South East Asia countries.
The Philippines' Ecommerce grew
significantly after they arrived in the country. The local online market was
influenced dearly by their arrival. The local online scene has no competition
so it only made sense to launch it in the country. What i very challenging for
them is how they can tell the local Internet users to visit their online mall.
Turning online visitors to online customers were hard primarily because online
payment is not highly regarded. It is because exposing our credit card details
online is quite dangerous. Actually, only a small ratio in the population has
their own credit cards in the Philippines.
It slowed down the Ecommerce
growth in the country. It doesn't mean that customers have no clue about online
payment. The problem with Filipinos is that we don't give them a chance and we
overshadow reward with risk. We just find it very hard to trust these online
shopping malls. We judge them immediately as a scam websites. It is what makes
Ecommerce very hard to penetrate for online businesses. These two Ecommerce
problems in the country were single handedly solved by the Philippines' Online
Shopping Mall. These online malls offered their customers Cash on Delivery or
C.O.D. as their alternative payment method. No longer will customers be
required to pay upfront only until they actually receive their orders once it
is delivered at their very homes.
