Everyone
is starting to appreciate what the Ecommerce industry can bring to the country.
Most of have wondered so long when it will eventually rise in the country. No
one knew it would happen soon during the late 2000. But now, online shopping is
taking its share in popularity among the local online users in the Philippines.
Two years ago, online shopping was in a different place, places were people
don't consider them at all. Most of us are aware that we have a high frauds and
scams in the country for both online and offline. Logically, this makes local
online users shy to shy away from online transaction. In the local online
space, local online classified websites were the premiere local websites
closest to Ecommerce. Local classified websites helped prepare the arrival of
local online malls. Buy and sell websites eventually help build a marketplace
community. The local audience didn't know were to go if they went to buy
something when local online classifieds still did not exist in the country.
For
users looking to buy an item, they turn to these websites for pricing
comparison. It paved way for local online users to maximize the usage of Internet.
More online users go to these types of websites in search for buy and sell
prospects. Unlike Ecommerce, these are third party resellers who deal with the
website visitors. Customers do Offline transactions most of the time. Group
buying website also have this contribution to the local online users. They
paved way for upcoming Ecommerce websites in the country. In the Philippines,
local online users were already familiar by the local Ecommerce websites were
launched. People consider online shopping probably due to the fact that the
reward is higher than risk. Customers who experience shopping on group buys
websites found deals that can only be found on group buy deals. Their offer or
deals are so enticing the any local online customer will have a problem to
avoid these group buy websites.
Last
year, Lazada Online mall was launched in the Philippines. They are an online
mall venture available in South East Asia. It is powered by Rocket Internet,
which is owned by the Samwer brothers. By offering various payment methods,
Lazada helped the Ecommerce grow in the country. A lot of online payment
methods are available for customers to make it easier for them. It is usually
credit card or PayPal that has allowed to be used for paying online by online
malls. This hampers the customers in availing the items they want since they
are limited in paying online the conventional way. Their Cash on Delivery, more
known as C.O.D. was offered to local online users. This allowed them to tap the
untapped markets, which are the non-credit cardholders or PayPal account users.
In the country, it is the majority of the population. It allowed the Ecommerce
to grow with these markets now included and combined together to actually
target the majority of the population.
