Shopping
in the country has truly changed overtime. Before we used to go to traditional
malls to buy what we want. Nowadays, we can do it right in our bedroom. All you
need to do is to connect online, which is now a pretty common necessity we have
in our home. Online shopping started off slow, initially. Not everyone gave it
a high regard. It is only after Lazada was launched in the Philippines, other
online competitors showed up and online shopping started to emerge in the local
online market. The Ecommerce industry was not growing if you go back a few
years from their launch. Online shopping was actually not a highly regarded
option for most users in the past. They usually buy second hand items at local
online classified ads by most local online users. Traditional mall are usually
the go-to source of customers who wants to buy brand new items. This should be
no surprise to us as we were raised by our parents going to traditional offline
malls when we need to shop.
However,
most of us fail to realize that we can actually save time and money in online
shopping. Why do online shopping be an option for the local consumers? As for
online shopping, local online consumers can do it wherever they go. It can
actually save consumers more money on gas expense since they don't need to go
location of traditional malls. It was of the challenge that they try to solve
when they arrived in the country. They were also facing an issue on how they
can also tap the untapped market in online. It was probably due majority of the
population no owning a credit card, which is the most common payment method in
online. It's obvious that we are not comfortable or very trusting in online
transactions. It's no secret that we know the existence of online scams and
frauds.
Nowadays,
the local Ecommerce is beginning to make some noise in the online space. It's
actually amazing to see that they are making a significant impact on Ecommerce
and is rapidly reaching success with their year of tenure, which is a remarkable
feat for them. As for the trust and credibility status, Lazada showed up on TVC
during primetime at top local channels in the country. How did the Ecommerce
limitation was solved by them? They introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. as an
alternative payment method to their customers. This is very unconventional
payment method that is presented by any online mall. From an online business
owner's point, it is very risky on their part. Customers are not actually
required to pay up front; instead they can pay once their orders are delivered
at their homes. Customers can pay cash right after their orders are handed over
to them during delivery. Customers can hold unto their money up until their
orders arrived at their address. This is the way to show the local online
customers that they won't be scammed.
