It cannot be helped that the
Internet’s influences in our lives have drastically increased over the years.
This can be proven that most people are having a hard time if they can’t
connect online for more than a week. Almost wherever we may go like malls,
schools and office, Internet is available for our access. To have a shopping
online option then made sense for us with the rate we are going a couple of
years in this modern digital era. Now, there's no doubting that online shopping
is a rising industry in the Philippines.
Most of us never thought it would be accepted
by the local online market if we go back two to three years ago. One reason is
that online and offline scams happen to often in the country. It made online
users shy away from even considering online transaction. Top websites in the
country were local online classified ads in the buy and sell industry. It
helped the arrival of online malls in the country. Their visitors eventually
became a community in the marketplace industry. During the time online
classifieds were unavailable, local online users didn't know where to go when
they want to buy something online.
Users go to these websites mainly
to get an idea about market price of what they want to buy. This usage allowed
Internet users to find online more diverse in use. Various visitors on this
kind of websites go there to buy and sell. Ecommerce was very far from this as
the local online ads are populated by third party resellers. Final deal happen
offline most of the time. Group buying websites also influenced the local
online users. It paved way for the Ecommerce industry in the country. By the
time they arrived in the country, local online users were sort of familiar on
how to deal online with Ecommerce websites. The reward was too high for
customers that they can discount the risk. A lot of convincing deals was
offered by group buy websites which can't be found anywhere.
Their deals were outstanding
lower prices that any local online user would have a hard time refusing. Lazada
Philippines was eventually launched in the country last year. It is actually an
online mall venture launched across South East Asia. The Samwer brother owns
this venture along with the other ventures under Rocket Internet as well.
Lazada Online Mall made an impact in Ecommerce thru their flexible payment
methods. The online payment methods they offer provides customer to be in
control. Conventionally, only via credit card or PayPal payment is allowed by
conventional online malls.
Both credit card and PayPal
payments are usually a problem for local online customers since they don't
possess any of the two. They first introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. to the
local online users. In the Philippines, it allowed the untapped market to be
tapped by them. It is actually the majority of the population in the country.
This allowed the Ecommerce industry to reach new heights now that these markets
are tapped for online.
