We used to be comfortable shopping on traditional malls back
in the days when we were young and our parents takes there. We are fond of
going to malls since it immediately tells us we can buy something there. This
has been part of our culture that was installed by our parents to us. However,
this also entails a lot of effort compared if you do it by yourself in online. In
the Philippines, the trend of online shopping is now on the rise. A couple of
years ago, online shopping was just an idea that wasn't highly regarded by
local online users. One reason is that online and offline scams happen to often
in the country. Moreover, this is the reason why many do not consider online
transaction. What was closest considered
in Ecommerce was local online classified websites. Ridiculous as it may be, but
this help prepared the rise of the Ecommerce industry. Their visitors
eventually became a community in the marketplace industry. During the time
online classifieds were unavailable, local online users didn't know where to go
when they want to buy something online. For users looking to buy an item, they
turn to these websites for pricing comparison. This helped Internet become more
diverse for customers.
This online ad websites became a platform for people who
wants to buy and sell. Local online users are usually dealing with third party
resellers or suppliers, which is exactly the opposite of Ecommerce. Final deal
happens offline most of the time. Customers also encounter this same kind of
setup with group buying websites. They showed the way for the Ecommerce
websites in the country. By the time Ecommerce arrived in the country, local
online users are somewhat familiar in doing transactions online. The reward was
too high for customers that they can discount the risk. A lot of convincing
deals was offered by group buy websites, which can't be found anywhere. Their
offer or deals are so enticing the any local online customer will have a
problem to avoid these group buy websites.
It was only last year when website like Lazada Online Mall
was launched in the Philippines. It is only one of the online store ventures
that are available across South East Asia. It is under the German based company
Rocket Internet, which is owned by the Samwer brothers. This Online Mall made
an impact in Ecommerce thru their flexible payment methods. The payment methods
being offered by them allow their customers to select whom they prefer the best
for them. Credit cards and PayPal are usually the online payment method
accepted by most online stores. However, with this payment method alone, it
limits the customers in making a transaction with online stores. They first
introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. to the local online users. In the
Philippines, it allowed the untapped market to be tapped by them. In the
country, it is the majority of the population. By tapping this market, it
eventually helped the rise of Ecommerce in the Philippines.
