We
have all grown to shop on traditional malls whenever our parents will take us
there. It was instilled in our lifestyle when we were just little kids. But to
this generation, they have more flexibility in doing our offline ways such as
doing it online, which is faster, easier and efficient. It is actually expected
since we are living in a digital era nowadays. Offline shopping is still a
great option for the consumers since it guarantees them with the quality of
service. They are sure that it is less likely they will be scammed. But still, it is great that we have online
shopping as an alternative. Time won't matter anymore for people who want to
shop at their discretion. Their schedule is just very unusual compared to most
people. Normally, these are the people who work at night. They are only free
when malls are closed. It makes it harder for them to visit traditional malls.
They only visit traditional malls during their day off at work.
Obviously,
it's harder for them to shop compared to people who work on normal hours. It's
now easier for them now that online shopping is available for addressing their
shopping needs. Most of the business is now being put up online. This shopping
craze only started last year in our country. Once Lazada arrived in the
country, other online malls followed them. They are one of the first online
shopping mall in the Philippines. They can also be seen in other South East
Asia countries. The industry of Ecommerce has risen after they arrived in the
country. It was hard not to notice their influence in local online market. It
actually made sense to launch it in the Philippines since the competition is
non-competitive. The real challenge for them is how they will tell people to
shop on their website. One reason it was hard for them is that local online
users are not optimistic about online payment. The local online users were just
hesitant to use their credit card since it exposes their personal details.
As a
matter fact, only of few of the local online users have their own credit cards.
This has slowed down the growth of Ecommerce in the Philippines. It doesn't
mean local online users are not familiar with online payment. We tend to
consider the risk only when dealing with online stores. It's just simple and
easy; we don't want to give online malls a chance especially if it is still new
to our ears. We jump to conclusion that they are only there to scam people.
These two alone will be enough to convince any investor that it will be pretty
challenging for them to put up their online business in the local online
market. Lazada came up with a solution to eliminate these two huge issues in
the local Ecommerce. They introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D., which enables
customers to pay in cash instead. They don't necessarily require their
customers to pay right away only until they received their order package in
real time.
