Internet
penetration in the country was quite high ever since it landed in our local use
base. This drastically changed how we operate some of our daily activities.
However, conducting business transactions such as online shopping didn’t pan
out in the past. It only started to grow last year when online malls like
Lazada was launched in the Philippines, other online competitors showed up and
online shopping started to emerge in the local online market. As a matter of
fact, Ecommerce was having a hard time in penetrating the local online market
just a few years back. The local online community never considered online
shopping as their option in the past. For second hand items, local online users
visit online classified websites to buy to what they are looking for.
As
for local consumers who want to buy something new, they usually visit
traditional offline malls. It's no surprise to anyone since traditional offline
malls are usually the place we go to when we want to buy something growing up.
Picking online shopping over offline shopping can save local online consumers
more time and money. So how can these help us in our shopping needs? Local
customers can actually shop anywhere you want with online shopping. No more
extra spending on travel costing since customers will no longer need to go
traditional malls. This is the issue that the Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall
wanted to address when they were launched in the Philippines. The goal for them
is to actually tap the untapped market online in the country.
Most
of the population in the country is actually non-credit cardholders; therefore
they are unable to pay online. We can't just rely on trusting online
transactions right away. Majority of us are informed about online frauds and
scams that other people encounter when dealing in online. The Ecommerce
industry is now getting recognized in the local online platform. They
contributed dearly to the Ecommerce industry in less than two years of
existence in the country. Their recent appearance on TVC from top local TV
networks during primetime just show how legit and credible they are to the
local online customers Given the limitations in Ecommerce, how did they solve
it? The Philippines' Online Shopping Mall offered Cash on Delivery or more
known as C.O.D. as an alternative payment method.
Typically,
online stores do not offer this in online. Any online business finds this
payment method very risky from their end. It is not a requirement for their
online customers to pay right away with this payment method. Once orders are
delivered at the customer's address, that's the only time they will need to pay
in cash. Their customers won't need to worry since they get to keep their money
until their orders are delivered. Their intention is tell their customers that
shopping on their mall won't lead them to be scammed. As long as a person gets
the assurance that they can hold on to their money, then it will easier for
them decide and push through in shopping online.
