Lazada: No stopping the Online Shopping Industry

As an online consumer, it’s always a problem for me to be restricted in availing certain items I want online. The idea of dealing with online malls on their terms is already a negative point in deciding whether to push through with it or not.  I mean if I can pay for it in cash, why should it be complex between the online mall and I, right? In general, online payments have always been troublesome for most people.

It's a challenged for most people to pay online. When we pay online, we usually fill forms and provide our credit card details that may expose us to online identity theft.  This is even more complicated to countries that are no used to doing online transactions at all. For people who are still new in online payment, they may have a hard time to pay online and should not make a mistake doing it. It's delicate to make a mistake since it may lead to overcharging on your bill.  As compared to just paying in good old fashion “cash” where you just need to hand it over. It's not hard to understand.

You avail what you paid for in real time. In the digital era, new options have risen online. One example is the option to shop online. Walking around mall buildings can now be avoided, saving time and energy. It's only Internet access and Internet capable device that is needed for online shopping. You can easily access any online mall's website to check what they offer. It's different here in the Philippines. Just a few years ago, online shopping was never considered in the country. Not everyone can pay online since most of us don’t have our own credit cards. It made the growth of Ecommerce slow. It made the penetration of Ecommerce very challenging. It made it easier for Ecommerce to penetrate the country when website like Lazada was launched in the country. They gave online shopping as a clearer option to local online community.

Now that they offer Cash on Delivery or C.O.D., it allowed any Filipino to shop online even if they don't have their own credit cards. It only requires customers who select Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. as their payment method can just leave their shipment address and name. Orders will be delivered directly on the shipment address and only ask for payment once it get delivered in real time. It was an online mall offered the first time Cash on Delivery or C.O.D.

Ever since Cash on Delivery was offered online as well, it helped the Ecommerce industry. It made us realize that online shopping makes shopping a lot easier than offline shopping. After they arrived in the country, local competitors put up their own local online mall to compete with them. These give us more options, either by online shopping or by traditional offline shopping. Now people don’t need to worry if they can avail the service of online shopping due to online payment limitations. It is nearly as buying from a traditional mall just happen that it will be done online from a consumer payment perspective.
