How Ecommerce affected the consumer market in the Philippines

South East Asia's Ecommerce industry in the past was an actual challenge to businessmen who want to divert to online. One thing to consider is that the current market at that time who can pay via online was insufficient. Most of them are not even credit card owners. Even if there are some credit card owners within the population, only a few will consider conducting online transactions. Their reaction is expected since it's no secret that frauds and scams happen online throughout the Internet. Usually, the credibility of traditional offline business has more weight than online business. The perception is that in offline business, you can deal in person, which makes the transaction success rate higher. Sadly, most of us are considering that they are actual legit online stores that we are overlooking. Traditional offline malls usually offer higher price since they have rental fee on their stores unlike online malls who can offer way lower pricing on their items. This makes online shopping malls more attractive to customers since they offer regular discounts and promos. They really need to offer this to convince online customers to try online shopping instead offline shopping. Ventures like Lazada are a good example that is also available across South East Asia. They are actually one of the few online stores in the country who offered a wide array of selection that we only see in traditional malls. They offered Cash on Delivery or more known as C.O.D., which was first introduced by them in the country. To be honest, this is one of the main factors that allowed them to reach where they are right now. Recently, they just celebrated their first ever anniversary and already achieved so much. Most of their competitors just showed up upon their arrival last year. It proves that local businessmen have realized the potential of Ecommerce in the country. What we can only do is just watch online shopping goes to the next level. The Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall managed to win the local customers with their unconventional approach. Since C.O.D. is available, customers who can't via credit card or online can now be customers as well. As a result, it exponentially increased the number of customers since anyone can pay in cash. They even offer free delivery availability as long as the transaction value exceeds one thousand pesos. Shipment fees will be waived as long as transaction is not lower than one thousand pesos. Since they can combine Cash on Delivery and Free Delivery, it can entice customers to try online shopping instead of offline shopping. This option in shopping altered how the local business in the country is being approached. You can see other big local malls building their own Ecommerce websites just for them not to be left out since their original consumer market has been divided to online and offline. You can truly see how Ecommerce have made their impact in the country. Time will only tell how Ecommerce will further evolve in our country.
