In
the Philippines, it was last year when one of the Lazada venture was launched.
The famous Samwer brothers under their company Rocket Internet own it. It is a
venture that not only exists in the Philippines but also other South East Asia
countries. The Ecommerce in the country was still new and gave them the
opportunity to put up a venture in the region, especially now that the economy
is doing well. It also helped that online users are continuing to increase at
that time when smartphones were taking over the digital technology in the
country. With the arrival of affordable smartphones, tablets and netbooks, it
further helped the growth of the online audience in the Philippines. They have
already built a reputation as a huge website incubators in the world. Other
countries already find these a common option for them since they were used to
it since during the early years.
In
the Philippines, Ecommerce was really challenging to expand. One of the main
reasons Ecommerce was struggling is due to the fact that only a few online
users can pay online. Not everyone possesses decent Internet connection. There are
just a few of online population that have their own credit cards. This is
mainly the conventional payment method that is acceptable in online. Cash on
Delivery or C.O.D. is a payment method that was first introduced by Lazada that
eventually allowed anyone to pay in cash instead. This Cash on Delivery or
C.O.D. payment method changed everyone's perception in online shopping. We are
now currently seeing a lot of successful offline business being present in
online. Local businessmen now are seeing how online business can be a success
in the country. A lot of challenges were lingering in Ecommerce just a few years
back. Despite having some possible online shoppers among the bunch, it didn't
help since they don't feel comfortable in online payment.
Some
of the online shoppers who can use their credit card for online payment are not
willing to surrender their credit card details online. These online shopping
woes made Ecommerce rise quite hard. It was local online classifieds who
initially left an imprint in the local online scene. The local online community
really never paid attention to online malls prior to Lazada's arrival in the
Philippines. The online shopping industry wasn't really highly regarded in the
first place. For them to overcome the
Ecommerce slump, they relied heavily on aggressive online marketing campaigns.
The
Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall online presence were seen everywhere. With
the help of their online marketing, it quickly jolted their brand on top. That gives them an edge over their
competitors is that they offer full online shopping package to their customers.
Besides their Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. alternative payment method, they offer
free delivery as well. Customers will still get manufacturer's warranty that is
also issued by traditional malls. You don’t actually see too much difference
between online mall and a traditional offline mall.
