Lazada Philippines: Only a few online malls can match traditional malls

Last year, one of the Lazada venture was launched in the country. It is supported by Rocket Internet and is owned by the Samwer brothers. Besides Philippines, it also exists in other South East Asia countries near the country.

The Ecommerce in the country was still new and gave them the opportunity to put up a venture in the region; especially the economy is doing well. They are actually trying to replicate the success they got from other ventures. Other countries have already incorporated online shopping to their lifestyle since they adapt to it a way earlier age.

In the Philippines, Ecommerce was really challenging to expand. Due to low number of online people who are able to pay online, made Ecommerce growth really hard. Not everyone possesses decent Internet connection.

Owners of credit cards are only limited. This is mainly the conventional payment method that is acceptable in online. On top of the conventional online payments, Lazada introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. that enables any customers to shop online. This Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. payment method changed everyone's perception in online shopping. Ever since they arrived in the country, other businesses in offline also went to online. Local businessmen now are seeing how online business can be a success in the country. It was almost impossible for anyone to penetrate the local online market since Ecommerce had a lot of issues in the country.

As for the people who have the privilege to conduct online shopping via conventional online payment method, they are afraid to expose their details online. Some of the online shoppers who can use their credit card for online payment are not willing to surrender their credit card details online. Their growth in Ecommerce was hardly improved due to the current online shopping woes that plagued our country. It was local online classifieds who initially left an imprint in the local online scene.

Initially, online shopping malls struggled to make an impact in the local online community. Online shopping was still uncommon, that's why no one seriously invested in the country in Ecommerce. For them to overcome the Ecommerce slump, they relied heavily on aggressive online marketing campaigns. It's almost guaranteed that you will see at least one of their online ads at one point of your browsing online.

With the help of their online marketing, it quickly jolted their brand on top.  Their overall online shopping package allowed them to have a step ahead against their competitors. Their alternative payment method Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. comes with Free Delivery availability as well. Customers will still get manufacturer's warranty that is also issued by traditional malls.

Honestly, there is almost nothing that is offered in offline malls that they are still not offering. Actually, they provide more payment flexibility in online shopping. For traditional malls, customers only have the option to pay either by cash or credit card. With Lazada, they can pay either by Paypal, credit card that also includes installment for BDO account owners and via Cash on Delivery. The option is just up to the customer’s preference.
