Lazada Philippines: Real expectations met in the local Ecommerce industry

The local industry in Ecommerce is slowly shifting to mainstream nowadays. More online malls are being launched compared to the previous years were it is almost rare to find a local online mall here in the Philippines. A lot of the local online users are now actually looking for online shopping alternative as well. So it is actually safe to say that online shopping is set to reach new heights in the country now that it has become popular and accepted to the local online users. Online users actually didn't find online shopping reliable a couple of years ago. One of the reasons is that we have a high fraud rate for both offline and online in the Philippines. Moreover, this is the reason why online transaction is not considered by many.  Initially, local online users went to top local online classified websites in the buy and sell industry. Ridiculous as it may be, but this help prepared the rise of the Ecommerce industry. The presence of online marketplace grew since their arrival in the country. When online classified weren't available yet, local online users didn't have an option online.

It became a venue for pricing benchmark on the items that user wants to buy. This helped Internet become more diverse for customers. A lot of small business used this buy and sell platform. This was very different from Ecommerce since it is being populated of sellable items care of third party resellers or suppliers. Customer usually prefers and goes with offline transaction. Customers also encounter this same kind of setup with group buying websites. They help lead the preparation of local online users for the Ecommerce industry in the Philippines. By the time Ecommerce arrived in the country, local online users are somewhat familiar in doing transactions online. The risk in online shopping is way lower than what they could be getting. Through group buy websites, local online users had a taste of great deals that is rarely found nowadays. With the great deals being offered by group buy websites, it makes it harder for customers to refuse them.

It was only last year when website like Lazada Online Mall was launched in the Philippines. An online mall ventures available across South East Asia. The Samwer brothers own this venture under their German based company Rocket Internet. With Lazada's payment methods, it helped them impact the local Ecommerce in the Philippines. The payment methods being offered by them allows their customers to select which they prefer the best for them. Only credit card or PayPal payments are conventionally accepted by online stores. However, with this payment method alone, it limits the customers in making a transaction with online stores. The alternative payment method called C.O.D. or Cash on Delivery was first introduced by local online users. As a result, this allowed them to tap the markets that are still wary of online shopping. As a matter of fact, this is the majority market in the country. By tapping this market, it eventually helped the rise of Ecommerce in the Philippines.
