Lazada: Ecommerce giving a hand to the local consumers

Going a few years back, Ecommerce isn’t the same as how it is now. Currently, it is a thriving industry in the country. But back then; there is little growth on it to be honest. It only changed last year. Numerous online malls were launched in the country and online shopping started to be a popular option for consumers ever since Lazada arrived in the country. The industry of Ecommerce in the Philippines was quite low before they arrived in the country. The local online community never considered online shopping as their option in the past. Local online users usually visited local online classified websites when they are looking for a second hand item.

Typically, customers would usually go to traditional malls if they want buy anything brand new. This should be no surprise to us as we were raised by our parents going to traditional offline malls when we need to shop. We actually need to realize that online shopping can reserve our time and money. How do online shopping benefit us? If local consumers opt for online shopping, they can do wherever and whenever they want. Customers will no longer need to visit location traditional malls saving them money on transport expense. It was an issue that was long endured by local customers that they wanted to solve for them. They are also facing an issue on how they can tap the untapped local online market in the country.

A lot of the reasons is because of majority of the population don't possess their own credit card. It's quite hard for the local online consumers to trust online deals right away. Online frauds and scams also happen globally, which we are all aware of. Nowadays, the local Ecommerce is beginning to make some noise in the online space. Despite only having more than a year of operation under its belt, they had already established its brand on the local online scene. Customers can even check their TVC on top local channels that was aired during primetime to prove how legitimate they are.

So how did they solve this Ecommerce barrier in the Philippines? They offered an alternative payment called Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. It's a payment method that is not just offered typically by online malls. It's actually a very risky payment method that not all online stores are willing to gamble. This payment method doesn’t require customers to pay them upfront. Customers can do cash payments once the Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall delivers their orders at there very home. With this, customers won't need to worry about their money getting scammed. This is the way to show the local online customers that they won't be scammed. It is anyone’s priority to secure them from dealing online. It is the biggest hiccup before the Ecommerce breakthrough in the country. Once it was surpassed, Ecommerce begun to rise as an online industry. I’m quite excited on what Ecommerce can do to further make our lives easier.
