Lazada: How reliable are the online stores in the Philippines?

I’m pretty sure most of us are already familiar with online shopping in the Philippines by now. It has now become a common online trend that Filipinos are getting used to. Ecommerce has truly grown in the country. Thinking back a couple of years ago, online shopping was never even considered an alternative option by local Internet users. Conventionally, the only option they have is to go to traditional offline malls to satisfy their shopping needs. As we are all aware, Ecommerce had really evolved over time for only a span of one year.

Coincidentally, one of the biggest online shopping mall, Lazada was launched last year. Honestly, I feel like Lazada made a huge splash for the introduction online shopping to the local online community. Since their arrival, numerous online stores came out from nowhere. Mostly, owned by local businessmen, which just shows that the local business is slowly understanding and recognizing the potential of online business. Some of them are huge companies who simply translated their already successful offline business to online.

To give more flexibility on there audience reach since pretty much everyone is online nowadays. But along the line of putting up online stores comes with reliability and credibility image to the local Internet users. As we all know, not everyone was initially open to doing online transaction to any local online stores. We have online liabilities like online scams & frauds that are widely known by Filipinos. This make online shopping’s reputation a tough shell to crack for local online consumers. What makes an online store reliable nowadays is to have secured line to protect conventional online customers who pay thru credit card or use their Paypal accounts. This prevents hackers to steal account details of their customers. There is also the credibility of online stores delivering the products to their customers. There are some experiences of online customers wherein they pay for the item but in return they don’t receive the item. These are the main reasons why Ecommerce in the past failed to penetrate local audience. But with Lazada they introduced a game-changing payment method that allows anyone to order from their website but pay in cash.

Conventionally, when someone orders online, its natural process is to pay the online store upfront before they actually ship out your order to your address. But with Cash on Delivery that Lazada uniquely offered to their local online customers, no need to pay them right away as they ordered from their website. They only require them to pay only after they have delivered their order at your doorstep in cash. This gives the customer’s the advantage since if the customers don’t get their orders they still keep their money in their pockets. No harm, no foul! Not to mention Lazada also offer free delivery availability to their customers. As long as they exceed a one thousand pesos worth of purchase, shipment fee will be waived and covered by Lazada. This just shows how they are dedicated in making sure that their customers have the flexibility and less risk. It’s one of the quickest ways to let them know that they are a legit online store and that they are dedicated in making sure that customers can trust them.
